After two weeks "off the road" (Steuart was playing concerts in Europe), we're back at it, this week in Tennessee and South Carolina. The drive from southern Missouri to Nashville was absolutely beautiful, a true country drive. Our weekend in the "Music City" was awesome. A great friend of ours from Oberlin showed us around the city, and it seemed like everyone we met moved to Nashville either because they were a musician or they loved music. TailGate Beer hosted us for a Bach & Beer concert, and Steuart chose three really incredible TailGate brews to pair with each suite: Actually Pale Ale, Peanut Butter Milk Stout (Michelle's favorite), and a Farmhouse Sour. It was a lot of fun, with an enthusiastic and eclectic crowd, from a member of the Nashville Symphony to a local blues singer!
The next day we transformed part of Belmont United Methodist Church into our own little cafe for a concert called "Bach Conversations" with violinist Elisabeth Small. Thanks to the generous support of Credo Music the audience was treated not only to a free concert, but coffee, tea and cakes to go with it! We loved the comfortable atmosphere and dialogue with the audience that it created.
On our way to South Carolina, we stopped in Knoxville to stay on the farm of the wonderful Walters Family, whose daughter attended Credo Music last summer. They have shown us true southern hospitality, including hosting a lovely concert in their barn! Now we're off to Greenville and Columbia in South Carolina where we're looking forward to a cafe concert, another Bach & Beer, and a master class with Steuart at the Governor's School.
Do you know anyone in Greenville, SC, Columbia, SC, Athens, GA, Birmingham, AL, and/or Austin, TX? If yes, please invite them to our upcoming concerts! You can find the full calendar listing here, and just shoot us an email if you need more information.
