a brief detour

Greetings from the Netherlands! We're in Europe for a couple of weeks, and no, we didn't take our trailer with us. Steuart is presenting his Bach & Beer concert at the MA Festival Brugge and then the two of us will present a concert of early American music in Antwerp. From Belgium Steuart is off to Germany to play the final concert of the 4rooms tour (a two-year project) with Solistenensemble Kaleidoskop.  ...

home stretch (for now)

Since we started this tour in October we haven't been in the same place for more than a week, usually not more than a few days. Last night we parked our little home in Missouri, on the farm of Steuart's parents, and are not moving it for three whole weeks! What luxury. Don't get us wrong, traveling has been amazing, but we sure are ready for a break. Over the next three weeks we'll be planning and practicing new programs, doing some trailer maintenance, planning and booking concerts for the spring, playing a few concerts in the area and oh yes, resting.

a tour of our tiny home on wheels

We've been on the road for about two months now and one of the most surprisingly wonderful things about the tour has been our little home on wheels. Bringing our home with us allows us to sleep in the same bed every night, shop for, store and cook our own food, have our clothes put away in closets instead of packed up in a suitcase. Despite being in a new place every week, we can always come home to our "familiar space".  ...

back on the road, and driving south

After two weeks "off the road" (Steuart was playing concerts in Europe), we're back at it, this week in Tennessee and South Carolina. The drive from southern Missouri to Nashville was absolutely beautiful, a true country drive. Our weekend in the "Music City" was awesome. A great friend of ours from Oberlin showed us around the city, and it seemed like everyone we met moved to Nashville either because they were a musician or they loved music. TailGate Beer hosted us for a Bach & Beer concert, and Steuart chose three really incredible TailGate brews to pair with each suite: Actually Pale Ale, Peanut Butter Milk Stout (Michelle's favorite), and a Farmhouse Sour. It was a lot of fun, with an enthusiastic and eclectic crowd, from a member of the Nashville Symphony to a local blues singer!

adjustment

adjustment

In the last three weeks we've presented 5 concerts, given 2 master classes, spoken to 4 different groups of students, stayed in 4 driveways, eaten at Chipotle too many times (we missed burritos in NL), and spent time with many really wonderful friends. In all of that, I think it's fair to say that a lot of our energy, time and brain space this month has been spent on adjusting. There are the obvious (but not small) things, like adjusting to living in the U.S. again, being together all the time, and living in a tiny house. ...
